Every structural part of the masticatory system is designed to function in balance with the other parts. There are reasons why TM joints get sore, why connective tissue gets damaged, why disks displace, why joints click, why teeth become sensitive, and why periodontal disease is perpetuated. There is a reason why teeth get loose, wear excessively, and move out of alignment. Every problem of dysfunction is really an effect. Proper diagnosis requires that we clearly define each effect and then determine the specific cause.
In this course you will be provided with detailed differential diagnosis for each sign and symptom as well as learn examination protocols. After this course, you will have an awareness of the pathology and etiology of such problems. You will be given an algorithm for diagnosis and treatment, learn precautions necessary when treating the pain patient and when and how to make ancillary referral.
Furthermore, this course is designed to teach you how to provide less invasive and more aesthetic restorations. The course will illustrate the value of using direct composite resin for treating anterior restorative and cosmetic needs. The simple conservative techniques taught will lead to results that please the patient and the dentist.
